Leucorrhoea or White Discharge is the condition affecting the vaginal region of females. Since the white discharge is released during the condition it is also referred to as Whites. White discharge via vagina is normal as it helps in flushing out the microbes and bacteria from your body. The discharge is usually pale white in color and odorless, but in some cases, the color changes depending upon its compositions. In some women, the discharge is very few in quantity, while in some women the discharge is heavy and frequent. The secretion actually helps in protecting the body and hence it is not necessarily harmful to your health. Hormonal imbalance in the body is the prime cause of the white discharge. - The continuous urge for urination
- Pain in the legs and lower abdomen
- Painful intercourse

- Poor Hygiene or Diseases – During the days of the menstrual cycle poor hygiene is maintained and this can lead to white discharge. Other diseases which impact the immunity can also cause white discharge
- Injury or Infections – Infections or injury in womb or vagina can also lead to white discharge. Injuries that occur during abortions, after childbirth and excessive sexual intercourse can cause the white discharge
- Infections – Parasitic, fungal and bacterial infections in the vagina can cause white discharge.
- Intrauterine Contraceptive Device – IUCD is used to control pregnancy and in some cases, it causes irritation and white discharge in women. So, it needs to be used proper instructions to avoid Leucorrhoea.
What are the Treatments of Leucorrhoea or White Discharge?
The treatment for Leucorrhoea is decided based on the underlying cause of the problem. If the underlying cause of yeast infection or other parasitic infection, then antifungal medications are prescribed. Bacterial infections are treated with antibiotics. Besides, it is suggested that women must wear comfortable undergarments when they are discharging heavily. Moreover, keeping the vaginal area dry and clean is essential especially during menstrual cycles to maintain proper hygiene.
